On 13 January 2023 a diploma awarding ceremony was held for the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and former Military Medical Faculty, Medical University of Lodz who completed their studies in the academic year 2021/2022. A total of 507 graduates received their diplomas. The event was participated by the University Authorities: Prof. Janusz Piekarski, Vice-Rector for Organisation and Student Affairs; Waldemar Machała MD PhD, Vice-Rector for Military Health Service; Prof. Marzenna Zielińska, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Vice-Rectors of the Faculty of Medicine and Military Medical College as well as Brigadier General Piotr Płonka PhD Rector – Commander of The General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces, regional representatives, and the representatives of the Regional Medical Council and Military Medical Council. The best graduates were honoured during the ceremony. As is the case every year, Salve Medica awarded the most outstanding graduates with the top GPA: Aleksandra Stanek, Mikołaj Świerczyński and Aleksandra Koziateke. The rewards were handed over by Ewelina Barylska, the Director of Salve Medica Operation Unit. Our graduates were awarded for the first time by TU INTER Poland whose President handed over the awards to: Piotr Petryla, Krzysztof Feja, Kamil Ostafin. The musical setting of the event was organised by The Choir of the Medical University of Lodz. Congratulations and wishes of success to all the graduates.

We are glad to inform you that we have activated a new application which shall make it easier to navigate in the university campuses. What you can find in SmartUMED includes: SmartUMED App helps to set routes between 47 buildings of the Medical University of Lodz. There are two types of transport to choose from: public transport and a walking route. The map includes points of interest (e.g. toilets, lifts, canteens) as well as information on facilities for users with various types of disabilities (e.g. toilets and lifts adopted for the disabled). It is also possible to select a route suitable for people with disabilities. Drivers can use the memory option to save the location where they cars are parked, and they can also obtain the information on the available parking spaces at specific car parks. What is more, SmartUMED makes it easier to find your meeting place by generating a link with the exact location and sending it via e-mail. The app also provides current information on the university events and news. SOS function provides an opportunity to call for help in an emergency. Your distress signal shall be forwarded automatically to the appropriate services along with the info on your location. The application is free of charge and available in two languages: Polish and English. In order to install SmartUMED on your device use publicly available Google Play platforms (phones with Android system) or AppStore (phones with iOS system).

This year we’ve initiated Connecting cultures at Christmas. Students who stayed in Lodz for Christmas could join MUL’s teachers, administrative staff or students during Christmas time. They got the unique chance to taste some poppy-seed cake, ginger bread and home-made pierogis, but also learn more about our traditions and experience well-known Polish hospitality. It was a magical time!

The White Coat Ceremony 2022 was held on Friday the 16th of December 2022 at 4 pm. The White Coat Ceremony is an event that marks the transition from preclinical to clinical years. Students of the years 4/6 MD, 3/5 DMD, and 4/6 MD Advanced were honoured and received their White Coat.
